Yoga is a great complement to other physical activities. After a run or heavy workout, yoga will help your body relax while stretching, strengthening, and lengthening the muscles you were just working on. Yoga is also great for de-stressing from a long day. Yoga not only helps improve your body but also helps with mindfulness and meditation.
Mindfulness-based practices support social-emotional goals by teaching self-regulation skills. Mindfulness practices also improve self-awareness, relationship skills, decision-making skills, and social awareness skills.
Many schools across the country are implementing mindfulness & yoga programs into their curriculum and reaping the rewards with improved test scores and overall healthier school environments.
Locally, we have been in schools teaching mindfulness and yoga to both students and staff with positive results. Students learn healthy ways to relieve stress, reduce test anxiety, increase self-awareness, and self-regulation skills. With the changing climate we are experiencing, virtual sessions will be offered for 2020.
